PRP Hair Treatment Perth

Stimulate Growth. From Within.

PRP, exosomes, and Rejuran are regenerative treatments that work with the body's natural processes, stimulating existing follicles, improving hair thickness and density, and extending the window before surgery becomes necessary.

For most patients, this is where a treatment plan starts.

What Is PRP Hair Treatment?

Your body's own healing factors, concentrated to revive hair follicles

PRP (Platelet-Rich Plasma) is drawn from a small sample of your own blood. The sample is placed into a centrifuge and spun to separate and concentrate the platelets. What's extracted is a plasma rich in growth factors: the biological signals your body uses to trigger tissue repair, cell regeneration, and new growth.

Injected directly into the scalp at follicle depth, those growth factors reach the hair follicles in a concentration far higher than the bloodstream normally delivers. Weakened or dormant follicles respond by re-entering an active growth phase, producing thicker, stronger hair rather than the fine, miniaturised strands that characterise progressive hair loss.

Because everything used comes from your own body, there is no risk of allergy or rejection. The procedure is performed in-clinic with no downtime. Most patients return to normal activity the same day.

The experience behind this treatment is not theoretical. Dr Siva Gounder - Head of Bariatric Surgery at Perth Weight Loss and Surgery, and a colleague of Dr Jai's, has been through the process himself. After noticing significant hair loss, he completed monthly PRP sessions over six months and has remained on a maintenance schedule since. His results directly informed how the treatment protocol at Precision is structured and discussed with patients.

How a Session Works

01
Blood draw
A small blood sample is taken, the same as a standard blood test. This is the only source material for the entire procedure.
02
Centrifuge processing
The sample is spun in a centrifuge to separate the red blood cells from the platelet-rich plasma. The concentrated plasma, containing the growth factors, is drawn off for injection.
03
Scalp preparation
Topical anaesthetic is applied to the treatment area. Most patients find the experience manageable, similar in sensation to common skin treatments. Some areas are more sensitive than others.
04
Injection
The PRP is injected into the scalp at follicle depth across the treatment zone. Multiple small injections are placed systematically to achieve even coverage. The session takes 45–60 minutes in total.
05
Return to normal
No downtime. Some mild scalp tenderness for 24 hours is normal. Most patients leave the clinic and continue their day without restriction.
WHAT PRP DOES

Not just more hair. Better hair.

PRP works on multiple levels, not only stimulating new growth but also improving the quality of the hair that already exists.
Insights
  • 70–80% of suitable patients see improved hair thickness when PRP is administered correctly - Clinical review, 2024–2025
  • 30–40% average increase in hair density reported after 3–6 months of treatment in clinical studies - Clinical review, 2024–2025
  • 43 RCTs assessed in a 2025 systematic review, activated PRP showed effective density increases and reduced recurrence vs placebo - Springer Nature meta-analysis, September 2025
*Individual results vary. Clinical evidence supports PRP for suitable candidates with active follicles. Results depend on the stage of hair loss, protocol adherence, and whether treatment is combined with medical therapy. Dr Jai will discuss realistic expectations at the consultation.
Stimulates dormant follicles
Growth factors from your own plasma signal weakened follicles back into the active growth phase; the same phase they were in before DHT began shortening their cycle.
Converts vellus to terminal hair
Thin, miniaturised hair (vellus) can be pushed toward fuller, stronger terminal growth. Patients often notice hair feels thicker at the root before visible density improves.
Slows progressive loss
By improving the scalp environment and follicle health, PRP can slow the progression of androgenetic alopecia, buying time and preserving more of what's there.
Compounds with other treatments
PRP works alongside medication (minoxidil) and post-transplant to improve graft survival and surrounding hair quality. The combination effect is stronger than either alone.
GROWTH FACTOR TIERS

PRP, exosomes, Rejuran, and
why it matters which you choose.

Not all growth factor treatments are equal. The three tiers differ in origin, concentration, and clinical application.
Dr Jai offers all three and will advise which is most appropriate for your case.
Tier 1 — Foundation PRP
Platelet-Rich Plasma: your own blood, concentrated
20key growth factors including PDGF, VEGF, TGF-β
  • Extracted from your own blood
  • Injected into the scalp to stimulate follicle activity and improve hair thickness
  • Best suited to early-to-moderate hair loss with viable follicles still present
  • Strong clinical evidence base
  • Used before and after transplant surgery to improve graft survival and protect surrounding hair
Discuss PRP →
Tier 2 — Upgrade
Rejuran & Marine Exosomes
Salmon-derived PDRN
Higher growth factor concentration than PRP
  • Derived from wild salmon DNA (PDRN, Polynucleotide) originally developed in Korea for skin regeneration
  • Stimulates collagen synthesis and tissue repair at the cellular level, improving both scalp health and hair quality
  • The same Rejuran treatment used for facial anti-ageing can be applied to the scalp
  • For patients where PRP has plateaued, or who want a higher regenerative output from each session
  • Dr Jai holds a Rejuran treatment certificate, not widely available in Perth
  • Can be used in combination with PRP or as a standalone scalp treatment
Discuss Rejuran →
Tier 3 — Maximum output
Human Exosomes
Exomides: the highest concentration of growth factors available 200growth factors - up to 10x more than PRP
  • Human-derived exosomes (Exomides) contain the richest concentration of regenerative signals available in non-surgical hair treatment
  • Exosomes are extracellular vesicles, once thought to be biological byproducts, now understood to be key messengers carrying the building blocks of cellular regeneration
  • Clinical studies report up to 25% greater regrowth compared to PRP alone when applied to the scalp
  • Best suited to patients who have tried PRP, or who want the most aggressive non-surgical approach available
  • More expensive than PRP or marine exosomes, Dr Jai will advise whether the clinical benefit justifies the cost for your specific case
  • Sessions are typically every 3–6 months for maintenance

Who is PRP hair treatment for?

PRP works best when there is
still something to work with.

PRP and exosomes are regenerative treatments; they stimulate and strengthen what is already present.
They cannot create new follicles where none exist. The earlier they are started, the more there is to work with.
Best candidates
  • Early to moderate hair loss: thinning, reducing density, or increased shedding
  • Women with diffuse thinning: PRP is particularly effective for the female hair loss pattern
  • Patients on medication who want to accelerate or compound results
  • Post-transplant patients: to protect surrounding native hair and support graft survival
  • Anyone who wants a non-surgical option before committing to transplant surgery
  • Patients where PRP has plateaued: exosome upgrade offers a higher-output alternative
When PRP may not be sufficient
  • Long-established complete baldness where follicles are no longer viable, transplant is the appropriate pathway
  • Active scalp infection or untreated skin condition in the treatment area
  • Certain clotting disorders or medications that contraindicate blood draw and injection
  • Expectation of dramatic, immediate regrowth; results are gradual and cumulative over months
Treatment Timeline
Session time
45–60 minutes including blood draw and centrifuge processing
Initial course
Monthly sessions for 4–6 months. Dr Jai's own results required 6 monthly sessions before significant improvement was visible.
Maintenance
Every 6–7 months ongoing. One booster session to maintain follicle health and density.
First signs
Reduced shedding typically visible at 6–8 weeks. Hair feels stronger at the root before density visibly improves.
Density improvement
Visible at 3–6 months in suitable patients. Individual variation is significant.
Anaesthesia
Topical anaesthetic applied before injection. Most patients describe mild pressure rather than pain.
Downtime
None. Return to normal activities the same day.
Exosomes
Session every 3–6 months. No blood draw required — the growth factors come from the exosome preparation, not the patient.
PRP + Medical Therapy

Combination protocols for the best outcomes.

PRP and exosomes are not standalone solutions; they are most effective as part of a broader treatment plan that includes medication and where appropriate, surgery. Dr Jai designs combination protocols based on your specific stage of hair loss, what you have tried before, and what is realistic to achieve.
Your situation
  • Early hair loss, no prior treatment
  • On medication, wanting more
  • PRP plateau
  • Pre-transplant preparation
  • Post-transplant maintenance
  • Female diffuse thinning
Common Combinations We Offer:
  • Medication (minoxidil) + PRP
  • Add PRP or Rejuran
  • Upgrade to marine exosomes (Rejuran) or human exosomes (Exomides) for a higher growth factor output
  • PRP sessions in the weeks before surgery
  • PRP every 6–7 months alongside ongoing medication
  • Medication (minoxidil topical) + PRP

PRP Hair Treatment Perth | FAQ

PRP (Platelet-Rich Plasma) hair treatment is a non-surgical hair regrowth therapy that uses concentrated growth factors from your own blood to stimulate hair follicles, improve density and reduce shedding.

PRP uses growth factors from your own blood, approximately 20 key growth factors. Exosomes are extracellular vesicles derived from marine (salmon DNA/Rejuran) or human sources, containing up to 200 growth factors. They offer a higher regenerative output per session and are suited to patients where PRP has reached its ceiling, or where a more intensive approach is warranted from the start.

Rejuran (PDRN - Polynucleotide) is a treatment derived from wild salmon DNA, originating in Korea. It stimulates collagen synthesis and tissue repair at the cellular level. Applied to the scalp, it improves the follicle microenvironment, scalp texture, blood supply, and cellular signalling. The same product is also used on the face for anti-ageing and skin quality improvement. Dr Jai holds a Rejuran treatment certificate.

PRP hair treatment cost varies based on the number of sessions. See our pricing page.

PRP hair treatment success depends on the stage of hair loss, consistency of the protocol, and whether it is combined with medical therapy. Most suitable candidates see reduced shedding within 8 weeks and density improvements within 3–6 months.

Topical anaesthetic is applied to the scalp beforehand. Most patients describe it as a mild pressure sensation rather than pain.

No. PRP stimulates follicles that are weakened or dormant; it cannot regenerate follicles that are no longer present. For long-standing bald areas where follicles are no longer active, FUE hair transplant is the appropriate option. Dr Jai will assess your specific case and tell you honestly which pathway applies.

Yes and particularly well for the diffuse thinning pattern that characterises most female hair loss. A 2024 systematic review of randomised controlled trials confirmed PRP's efficacy for female hair loss, noting its favourable safety profile. Combined with topical minoxidil, PRP is one of the most effective non-surgical approaches available for women at early to moderate stages.

No. Most patients return to normal activities the same day. Some mild scalp tenderness or redness for 24 hours is common and resolves on its own. There is no recovery period, and no restriction on washing the hair after the initial 24 hours.
